Perhaps you are burdened by your sins. Or maybe you are ashamed or embarrassed by what you have thought, said, or done. Perhaps, even on this holiest of days, you have hurt or disappointed those you love. Or maybe you have thought, “God could never forgive me that!” O Beloved, your sin is no greater an obstacle than death. God—the Father, laid on Christ Jesus, His Son, the iniquity of us all, and He, the spotless Lamb of God, has taken away the sin of the world. God—the Son, was punished for your sins and paid the price for your transgressions; Christ Jesus died upon the Cross and was buried in the tomb on the Friday, rightly called Good. And then, on the Third Day, that glorious Easter morn, He strode forth from the grave, alive.
This is the angel’s proclamation, the glorious Easter Gospel: Christ Jesus—true God and true man—took up His life again; He is risen, just as He said. And, from heaven, an angel was sent to preach from the very spot of His burial—from where His body once lay dead, now, no longer—so that you might hear and believe.
Christ is risen!
