Sermon for The Feast of the Holy Trinity, 2024

Without Jesus, darkness surrounds and envelops you, and the darkness around you begets dark deeds within you; without Jesus, the darkness and the night fill you with fear and foreboding. Yet, with Jesus, the only-begotten of the Father, whom the Holy Spirit proclaims, you have a Light which no darkness can overcome. God has done His best work in the darkness of night so that you might be included in that group of special, spirit-filled people who live by faith in Jesus: those whom He has gathered and whom He calls children of the day. You are His, Beloved. And lo, He has promised that one day, soon, He will come again and bring you into the new creation, one where there is no more night nor darkness, for He has defeated them and their Prince. And all the light you will need is from the glory of the Lamb, who was sacrificed for you. Beloved, that Light now shines on you from this pulpit and from this altar, that you remain His forever.
